Calling all students and parents - we need your help. We have several students and staff who have significant allergies to scents which have led to allergic reactions involving EMS services. We respectfully ask that no scent applicant occur at school in the hallways. When applying scents before school, please follow the 'less is more' rule in order to ensure that all students and staff can be safe at school. Please contact administration if you have questions. Prince Edward Collegiate Institute is proud to present a partnership project between our local OPP officers and our school which is authentically creating opportunities for students to contribute to their community in a very meaningful way. Our goal is to ensure we continue our work supporting the foundations for a healthy school.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Prince Edward County detachment, in partnership with Prince Edward Collegiate Institute will be hosting a presentation. The “Am I In Trouble?” presentation discusses difficult situations youth may have experienced or witnessed. The presentation will be delivered by teens for teens, supported by many community services.
Representatives from the OPP, Ministry of the Attorney General, Victim Services Hastings, Prince Edward, Lennox & Addington Counties, Quinte Health Care Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Response Program, Alternatives For Women, Community Organized Support & Prevention (Quinte), Children’s Mental Health Services and Quinte Children’s Foundation is participating.
The intention is to help teens better understand the risks and consequences of challenging societal topics such as Bullying, Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Self/Peer Exploitation “Sexting” and to ensure they understand the variety of community supports available to them for assistance.
Research shows that parent engagement is critical to student engagement and ultimately student success. We are pleased to invite parents from throughout our school community, including our elementary feeder schools, to join us by attending Prince Edward Collegiate Institute located at 41 Barker St., Picton on May 12, 2015 at 7pm. Please contact Mr. D. McFarlane (Principal) if you wish additional detail.

Resilience: 27th Annual Secondary Art Show
LOCATION: John M. Parrott Art Gallery, 3rd floor, Belleville Public Library, 254 Pinnacle Street, Belleville
DATE: April 2 – 29, 2015
This event continues to be a spectacular way to showcase the creativity and personal expression of Visual Arts students to the community. Under the guidance and expertise of Art teachers, students have learned to explore and apply a variety of media, materials, technologies, tools and techniques using the application of elements and principles of design.
Additional learning has been to prepare the art works for presentation to a broad community audience and to understand the effect of the Arts in everyday lives. These pieces demonstrate student learning of Ontario curriculum requirements.
Works/techniques on exhibit include the following:
-
Drawing: pencil, pencil crayon and ink
-
Printmaking: dry point prints, mono-prints, collagraphs and colour reduction lino block prints
-
Acrylic painting and mixed media
Eight pieces from each secondary school will be on display.
Thank you to gallery Curator Susan Holland for assistance in coordinating this exhibit.
