Rules of Conduct for School Computer & Internet Use

Access to school computers and to the Internet is a privilege.  Students may lose this privilege, and face additional consequences, if they fail to follow the rules stated below:

1. Students are responsible for their own account and for any use made of that account. Students must not allow another person to use their account under any circumstances.
2. Students must keep their password confidential and report to their teacher if they suspect that another person knows their password.
3. Students will ONLY use the computers and Internet access for the completion of their assigned schoolwork.  School computers and the Internet are not to be used for entertainment.
4. Students will NOT engage in any activity which undermines the operation of the school’s computers and/or network, including but not restricted to the following:
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to any computer system, network, data, resources, programs, or system privileges.
- attempt to find or exploit any gaps in system security on the school’s computers and/or network
- attempt to install their own programs on school computers.
- attempt to cause a disruption in any services available through the Internet.
5. Students will NOT use school computers and/or the Internet, to access, create or distribute any images, sounds, messages or other materials which are obscene, harassing, racist, inflammatory, malicious, fraudulent, or libellous. The account will not be used for any activity that may be considered unethical, immoral, or illegal.
